SIW reaffirms its environmental responsibility as a crucial aspect of its sustainable operations. With steadfast dedication, SIW emphasizes the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, aiming for a sustainable business and a cleaner world. It responds to global demands for a greener economy and environmental stewardship, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come. SIW ZERO is the emblem that signifies our commitment to achieving "NET ZERO" through the delivery of environmentally friendly products and services under sustainable development plans. 1. EPD and Carbon Foorprint SIW, a manufacturer of high-strength steel wire, has been certified with a single Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) Certificate in Thailand, ranking 7th globally. SIW's carbon emissions stand at 2.19 kg CO2 eq. for PC Strand and 2.18 kg CO2 eq. for PC Wire, a significant source of pride for SIW, demonstrating the company's dedication to environmental responsibility and being the best choice for all customers and stakeholders. The deliberate creation of a CO2 footprint and plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions annually reflect SIW's unwavering commitment to instilling confidence in customers and stakeholders that the company is determined to lead sustainability efforts in the high-strength steel wire industry. Additionally, it assures customers that SIW is committed to utilizing resources and energy efficiently. The focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the future also demonstrates SIW's resilience and sincerity to customers and stakeholders, indicating a commitment to sustainable growth in the industry and moving towards efficient resource and energy use. This will contribute to building a stable and sustainable business partnership with customers and stakeholders amidst the rapid and severe changes in nature currently experienced. Moreover, SIW's EPD certification also enables business partners to utilize SIW steel wires for Green Building approvals, such as LEED certification or meticulously designed and operated buildings that prioritize efficient resource, energy, and environmental use, both domestically and internationally, making the process more convenient and expedient. Green buildings are now widely recognized for their rapid and extensive contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving energy efficiently, and improving human well-being. 2. Recycled SteelSIW's products can be manufactured using environmentally friendly raw materials from the steel production process with Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology, which primarily uses electricity to produce steel. This allows for increased use of recycled content, resulting in less environmental impact. EAF technology offers significant advantages over other steel production methods in terms of energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Unlike other steel production processes that rely on burning fossil fuels (biomass), EAF technology uses electricity to melt scrap steel and other metal raw materials in the steelmaking process. Using electricity instead of burning fuels reduces greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants. This aligns with SIW's sustainability policy.Furthermore, EAF technology enables us to efficiently use scrap steel as a primary raw material. By incorporating scrap steel as a major component in the production process, we reduce the need for virgin iron ore and minimize the environmental impacts associated with mining and extracting raw materials. This not only conserves natural resources but also supports the circular economy by promoting recycling and resource efficiency.Currently, SIW utilizes raw materials from EAF technology, which are carefully selected to ensure consistently high-quality steel wire products. These materials account for 70% of the total raw materials used by SIW in the factory for steel wire production. There are plans to increase this proportion further, enabling SIW to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and maintain a continuous plan for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. 3. Solar Power SIW has integrated solar power within its factory premises to harness renewable energy from sunlight, thereby contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This initiative marks a significant stride towards reducing energy consumption from conventional sources, rendering us more environmentally friendly and enhancing sustainability in energy usage. Furthermore, SIW has implemented a policy to encourage employees to conserve electricity within the factory. This serves as a stimulus for staff involvement in energy-saving practices and fosters a culture of energy conservation within the organization. Apart from reducing operational costs for SIW, electricity conservation also aids in decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and unnecessary energy consumption, thus benefiting the environment. Therefore, the utilization of solar energy and the implementation of energy-saving measures in the factory are efficient methods for cost reduction and minimizing environmental impact. Moreover, these initiatives yield sustainable long-term benefits and inspire employees to actively participate in energy conservation efforts, thereby ensuring consistent contributions to reducing energy consumption and mitigating global warming. Presently, SIW has installed solar panels covering an area of 9,877 square meters on the factory roof. This enables us to generate an average electricity output of over 2,500 megawatt-hours per year, equivalent to producing approximately 18 tons of high-strength steel wire products annually. Additionally, we have plans to invest in installing an additional 5,000 square meters of solar panels by 2026, which will generate an additional 4,000 megawatt-hours per year or produce an extra 29 tons of high-strength steel wire products annually from solar energy. 4. Replacing the Use of Chemical Descaling SIW has a plan to invest in cleaning and descaling the surface of wire rods, which are the primary raw materials of SIW, using mechanical descaling to replace chemical descaling. This is in response to the plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote environmental friendliness. Since the quality of wire rods before entering the production process of finished high-strength steel wire products is crucial to the product's quality, one of the key steps is cleaning and descaling. A pristine surface condition affects the final properties of high-strength steel wire products, including tensile strength, stress relaxation, flexibility, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, and more. Using mechanical descaling instead of traditional chemical descaling will make SIW's steel wire products more environmentally friendly. This approach can reduce contamination from chemicals, decrease water resource usage, and eliminate acids and chemicals from the production process, ensuring direct safety for employees, neighboring communities, and the overall environment. Moreover, mechanical descaling technology not only consumes less energy but also yields higher productivity and requires lower initial investment. This results in improved effectiveness and efficiency, coupled with environmental friendliness, leading the organization towards sustainable growth. 5. Zero-Discharge Wastewater Treatment SystemSIW has a complete wastewater treatment system, whereby the production process of SIW, up to the final stage, does not release any waste into the environment. This is an important activity for environmental preservation and maximizing value from water resource utilization. SIW has developed a comprehensive and high-quality wastewater treatment system. It minimizes environmental impact and maximizes energy efficiency by utilizing minimal water resources. 6. Green Industry Level 4 SIW has been awarded the Green Industry Level 4 certification, demonstrating the company's commitment to sustainable improvement of production processes and environmental management. This level of recognition signifies success in sustainable operations and efficient resource utilization. Moreover, obtaining the Green Industry certification reflects a dedication to environmental conservation and sustainability in the industry's operations. Achieving Green Industry Level 4 may involve stringent criteria and challenges in improvement and management, requiring continuous analysis and process enhancements to adequately meet the requirements. This certification also fosters pride within the organization and builds trust with customers and the wider community by supporting businesses committed to sustainable operations and environmental and social responsibility.
